What Is HLTAID014?

HLTAID014 Provide Advanced First Aid is a nationally recognised first aid qualification for people who may need to lead or coordinate a first aid response.

It goes beyond standard first aid by covering advanced casualty assessment, vital signs, multiple casualty situations, first aid coordination, incident communication and post-incident review.

This course suits people who are expected to manage more than their own individual response in an emergency.

Element 1 Respond to an emergency situation
  • 1.1Recognise and respond to an emergency situation
  • 1.2Ensure safety of self and others
  • 1.3Assess the situation and determine the first aid response
  • 1.4Deploy resources to appropriate locations as required
Element 2 Apply advanced first aid procedures
  • 2.1Perform single-rescuer or two-rescuer CPR in line with ARC guidelines
  • 2.2Provide first aid using established first aid principles
  • 2.3Display respectful behaviour towards the casualty
  • 2.4Conduct primary and secondary assessment
  • 2.5Assess, interpret and document vital signs
  • 2.6Manage major trauma, cardiac arrest and medical emergencies
  • 2.7Apply infection control procedures and use barrier devices
Element 3 Coordinate first aid activities
  • 3.1Identify resources and establish communication links
  • 3.2Deploy resources efficiently
  • 3.3Coordinate other first aiders and bystanders

Your certificate is issued once all requirements are successfully completed.

CPR assessment requirement: You must be able to perform a minimum of 2 continuous minutes of CPR on an adult manikin on the floor. If you have a physical condition that may affect this, contact us before booking.

Common Questions

What is the difference between HLTAID011 and HLTAID014?

HLTAID011 is the standard workplace first aid certificate. HLTAID014 is for people who may need to coordinate a response, manage other first aiders, assess vital signs and respond to more complex incidents.

Does HLTAID014 include CPR?

Yes. HLTAID014 includes HLTAID009 Provide CPR, HLTAID010 Provide Basic Emergency Life Support and HLTAID011 Provide First Aid.

How long is HLTAID014 valid?

HLTAID014 is commonly refreshed every 3 years. CPR should be refreshed every 12 months in line with Australian Resuscitation Council guidance.

Do I need HLTAID011 before booking HLTAID014?

No formal prerequisite is required. HLTAID011 is included as part of this course when all requirements are successfully completed.

Can you deliver HLTAID014 at our workplace?
