What is HLTAID014?

HLTAID014 Provide Advanced First Aid is the most comprehensive nationally recognised First Aid qualification available. It goes well beyond standard First Aid to cover advanced assessment and management of casualties, coordination of multiple first aiders and resources, incident management, and extended patient care in complex and high-pressure situations.

This is the qualification designed for people who are not just expected to respond to an emergency — but to lead that response. If your role involves being a designated First Aid Officer, coordinating emergency procedures, managing a team under pressure, or working in a high-risk environment where complex casualties are a realistic possibility, HLTAID014 is the appropriate qualification for you.

It supersedes the previous HLTAID006 Provide Advanced First Aid.

Units of Competency Included

HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
HLTAID010 Provide Basic Emergency Life Support

HLTAID014 Provide Advanced First Aid

All four units are issued on your Statement of Attainment upon successful completion.

Common Questions

What is the difference between HLTAID011 and HLTAID014?

HLTAID011 Provide First Aid is the standard workplace First Aid certificate for most employees. HLTAID014 is for designated First Aid Officers and those responsible for coordinating emergency responses. HLTAID014 covers advanced casualty assessment, multi-casualty management, vital signs monitoring, documentation requirements, and leading a team response. It includes all units within HLTAID011 and goes significantly further.

Does HLTAID014 include CPR?

Yes. HLTAID014 includes HLTAID009 Provide CPR, HLTAID010 Provide Basic Emergency Life Support, and HLTAID011 Provide First Aid. All four units are issued on your Statement of Attainment upon successful completion.

How long is the HLTAID014 certificate valid?

The certificate is valid for 3 years. The CPR component is recommended to be refreshed every 12 months in line with Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines. Check your workplace requirements as some industries specify more frequent renewal.

Do I need any prerequisites for HLTAID014?

There are no formal prerequisites. You do not need to hold HLTAID011 before completing HLTAID014 as it is included within the qualification. You will need basic computer skills to complete the online theory component and must be physically able to perform CPR on the floor for a minimum of 2 minutes.

Is HLTAID014 available for workplace groups in WA?

Yes. On-site delivery is available for workplace groups across Western Australia including Perth metro, regional areas, and remote sites. Group training means your team is certified together in your actual work environment, using scenarios relevant to your industry. Enquire about group training.

What replaced HLTAID006?

HLTAID014 Provide Advanced First Aid supersedes and replaces HLTAID006 Provide Advanced First Aid. If your current certificate shows HLTAID006 it is time to renew under the current HLTAID014 unit.
