Why This Training Matters

Anaphylaxis and Asthma Can Look Similar

In education and care settings, staff need to recognise when a breathing emergency may be more than asthma. A child with a known allergy who is having breathing difficulty may need adrenaline, not only asthma medication.

HLTAID012 trains educators to follow emergency action plans, act early, use adrenaline autoinjectors correctly and call 000 without delay.

Training point: If asthma treatment is not working and anaphylaxis is possible, follow the emergency action plan and administer adrenaline.
