Short, direct answers to the questions learners and employers in Western Australia ask most about first aid certificates, units, renewals, the USI, course day and group training. Each answer links to the page that goes deeper. Training and bookings are on reachau.com.au, with assessment delivered on behalf of ABC First Aid RTO 3399.
It is the official document an RTO issues when you are assessed as competent in a nationally recognised unit. It is what most people call a first aid certificate. How certification works.
Yes, if it names a nationally recognised unit (for example HLTAID011) and was issued by a Registered Training Organisation with an RTO number. REACHAU courses are assessed and issued by ABC First Aid RTO 3399.
ABC First Aid RTO 3399 issues the Statement of Attainment. REACHAU delivers the training and assessment on its behalf. Replacement certificates and verification requests go to the RTO.
Contact ABC First Aid, the issuing RTO. You can also log in to your USI account and download a VET transcript, which lists every nationally recognised unit you have completed since 2015. More on the USI transcript.
Once you are assessed as competent and your USI has been verified, ABC First Aid emails it. If you need it by a particular date for work, tell Britt at booking.
Yes. They can read the document for the unit code and RTO number, ask you for a USI transcript extract, or contact the RTO. How employers check a certificate.
Most workplaces ask for HLTAID011 Provide First Aid. Education and care services need HLTAID012, sites an hour or more from help need HLTAID013, and first aid coordinators or high-risk sites may need HLTAID014. Compare the units or use the course selector.
They are old course names still used in job ads. In almost every case the employer means HLTAID011 Provide First Aid.
No. Those units are delivered together with HLTAID009, HLTAID010 and HLTAID011, and all are issued on your Statement of Attainment when you complete the course.
HLTAID009 is about 1 to 1.5 hours. HLTAID011 and HLTAID012 are 3 to 4 hour practical sessions after online theory, with a full day option for HLTAID011. HLTAID013 public sessions run up to 8 hours. HLTAID014 runs up to 6 hours. Durations by unit.
Yes. Every unit includes performing CPR on an adult manikin on the floor for at least two minutes. If a physical limitation could affect this, contact Britt before booking so adjustments can be discussed.
Yes, by arrangement. Online pre-course theory is the ideal, but any course can use an in-session quiz instead (which adds hours), and a paper version is available if required.
REACHAU can deliver ABC First Aid's non-accredited mental health support courses. Ask when you enquire or request a group quote.
A Statement of Attainment has no legal expiry date. Australian workplace first aid guidance commonly recommends refreshing CPR every 12 months and first aid every 3 years. Employer, industry or registration body requirements take priority. Renewals explained, with a date calculator.
Every 12 months is the commonly recommended timeframe. HLTAID009 is the short unit used for the annual refresh.
Every 3 years is the commonly recommended timeframe. Renewing HLTAID011 reissues HLTAID009 and HLTAID010 too, so your CPR date resets at the same time.
You simply complete the unit you need again. There is no penalty. If it has been a long time, the full day HLTAID011 format gives more practice time.
Yes. Employer, industry or registration body requirements take priority over the general guidance. Follow the stricter requirement.
Yes. An RTO cannot issue your Statement of Attainment until your Unique Student Identifier is verified. Create or find yours free at usi.gov.au. Make sure the name matches your booking.
At least 24 hours before your session. If it is not done you may not be able to attend. How to prepare.
Clothes you can kneel and move in, closed shoes, your USI, photo ID, a water bottle and your enrolment email. Full checklist.
Students are asked to arrive 15 minutes early. Arriving late prevents you from joining the session and is recorded as non-attendance, so plan a buffer for travel and parking.
You get two further attempts at the task. If you are still not competent after those, the RTO will advise re-enrolment in the unit.
Yes. Tell Britt before booking. Reasonable adjustments such as knee padding, extra time or a different assessment format can be considered, and language, literacy and numeracy support is available through the RTO.
The WA code of practice recommends starting from 1 per 50 workers in low risk workplaces, 1 per 25 in high risk, and 1 per 10 in remote high risk, then adjusting for hazards, numbers on site, shifts and distance to help. Employer guide.
As a minimum, HLTAID011 Provide First Aid or an equivalent. Education and care services use HLTAID012, remote sites use HLTAID013, and first aid coordinators may need HLTAID014.
Yes, across Perth and regional WA, every unit, with theory done online so the day is practical. Request a group quote.
