We come to you

One Region. Many Different Workplaces.

The South West of Western Australia is one of the most diverse regions in the country. A winery cellar door in Margaret River has completely different First Aid risks to a grain farm outside Esperance or a timber operation in Manjimup. A childcare centre in Denmark has different requirements to a fishing vessel crew out of Albany Harbour.

That is why this page is built the way it is. Find your area, understand your specific requirements, and book the right course. If you do not see your town listed, get in touch — if we can drive, fly, or ferry there, we will deliver training on site.

Albany and the Great Southern

Port city · Agriculture · Health · Education · Tourism · Defence

Albany is the largest city in the Great Southern and the commercial and administrative hub for a wide area stretching along the south coast. With a population of over 38,000, Albany supports a diverse workforce across healthcare, agriculture, education, retail, construction, and tourism. The Port of Albany exports grain from across the Great Southern, and the defence presence at HMAS Stirling makes workplace First Aid a standard requirement across many industries here.

First Aid certification is also particularly relevant along the Albany coastline — the waters around Shoalwater, King George Sound, and the south coast harbour blue-ringed octopuses, and outdoor workers, community members, and families spending time near the water benefit greatly from current First Aid skills.

Esperance

Agriculture · Port · Mining services · Fishing · Tourism · Remote access

Esperance sits at the end of the Great Eastern Highway and serves as the port town for a vast agricultural and mining hinterland extending north through the Yilgarn iron ore province. Grain, minerals, and livestock move through the Port of Esperance from farms and operations spread across hundreds of kilometres. The Shire of Esperance covers one of the largest local government areas in Australia, which means that for many workers, emergency services are a long way away.

That distance is exactly why First Aid training matters more here, not less. Workers on farms, fishing crews, tourism operators, and anyone in an isolated site around Esperance should hold current certification — particularly HLTAID013, which is specifically designed for situations where medical help is delayed.

Margaret River and the Capes Region

Wine industry · Hospitality · Tourism · Surf · Agriculture · Childcare

Margaret River is three hours south of Perth and produces over 20 percent of Australia's premium wine from just two percent of its total wine production area. That concentration of high-value, labour-intensive activity across more than 200 wineries, cellar doors, and associated hospitality businesses means a large, year-round workforce with real workplace First Aid obligations.

Vintage season brings significant numbers of seasonal workers into the region. Cellar doors, restaurants, and accommodation venues operate with staff who are often far from major medical centres. And the surf coast from Yallingup to Gracetown brings ocean rescue risks, marine envenomations, and the remote reality that help takes time to arrive.

First Aid training delivered on-site — at your winery, your cellar door, your accommodation property, or your childcare centre — keeps your team certified without losing a full day of operations to travel.

Mount Barker

Agriculture · Viticulture · Rural community · Small business · Schools

Mount Barker sits in the heart of the Great Southern wine region — the area where Western Australian viticulture actually began, with the first trial vineyard established at Forest Hill in 1966, two years before the first Margaret River plantings. The surrounding agricultural land is some of the most productive in the state, with broadacre farming, livestock operations, and timber interests all active in the region.

This is a working rural community where the nearest large hospital is in Albany. Farms, vineyards, small businesses, the local school, and community organisations all have real First Aid obligations — and a First Aid trainer who is willing to come to you removes one of the biggest barriers to staying certified.

Denmark, Katanning, Kojonup and the Wider Great Southern

Agriculture · Forestry · Wine · Tourism · Rural schools · Remote access

The Great Southern region spans from the coast to the interior, covering a vast area of agricultural land, state forests, coastal communities, and rural towns. Denmark is a coastal town with strong tourism and lifestyle appeal. Katanning is one of the oldest agricultural service towns in Western Australia. Kojonup sits in wool and livestock country between the South West and the Wheatbelt.

These communities share one common reality: emergency services response times are longer than in the city. For farms, rural businesses, schools, and volunteer organisations across this region, having trained and current First Aid skills is not a box-ticking exercise. It is the difference between a managed emergency and a preventable tragedy.

Manjimup, Pemberton and the South West Forests

Timber · Horticulture · Tourism · Truffle industry · Agriculture

The South West forest region around Manjimup and Pemberton is home to some of the largest karri and marri trees in the world. Timber, horticulture, truffles, and tourism are the economic anchors of this area. Workers in forestry and agricultural operations face real isolation risks — chainsaw injuries, machinery incidents, and farm accidents in locations where an ambulance response may take significant time.

The South West also has a strong tourism economy, with tree-top walks, scenic drives, and outdoor adventure operations that employ seasonal and casual staff. All of these workplaces have First Aid obligations that can be met conveniently with on-site training delivered directly to your team.

Common Questions

Can you come to my workplace in regional South West WA?

Yes. On-site delivery is available across the entire South West including Margaret River, Mt Barker, Denmark, Katanning, Manjimup, Pemberton, and communities in between. If you are in a remote location, get in touch and we will work out the logistics. If we can get there, we will.

Which First Aid course do I need for farm or agricultural work in WA?

HLTAID011 Provide First Aid is the standard requirement for most workplace roles. If your farm or operation is in a remote or isolated location where emergency services response may be delayed, HLTAID013 Remote and Isolated Site is the more appropriate qualification and is strongly recommended for rural and regional workers across the South West.

Do wineries and cellar doors in Margaret River need First Aid certification?

Yes. Any workplace with employees is required under WorkSafe WA's Code of Practice to have appropriately trained First Aiders on site during work hours. Wineries, cellar doors, restaurants, and accommodation properties in the Margaret River region all fall under this requirement. On-site delivery means your team can be certified at your venue without losing a full working day to travel.

Is there a difference between the Albany and Esperance public course calendars?

Yes. Albany and Esperance have separate public session dates. Albany uses the standard metro First Aid calendar. Esperance uses an Express CPR option for HLTAID009 so that local participants are not filtering through metro listings. Check the calendar for each location to find the next available dates in your area.

How many First Aiders do I need at my rural South West workplace?

WorkSafe WA recommends one trained First Aider per 50 workers in low risk workplaces, one per 25 in high risk workplaces, and one per 10 in remote or high risk settings. Agricultural and forestry operations typically fall into the high risk or remote category, which means a higher ratio of trained staff is required. Get in touch if you want to work out the right number for your operation.
